Call forwarding on AT&T Wireless
Dial three short codes from your cell phone: one each for no answer, busy and phone off.
Your receptionist number
Replace XXXXXXXXXX below with your receptionist's 10-digit number from your account, with no spaces or dashes.
Turn it on
- 1
Dial this code and press Call, for calls you don't answer. Wait for the confirmation, then hang up:
*61*XXXXXXXXXX# - 2
Dial this code for when your phone is off or has no signal:
*62*XXXXXXXXXX# - 3
Dial this code for when you're already on a call:
*67*XXXXXXXXXX#
On an iPhone
The Call Forwarding switch in iPhone Settings forwards every call, so your iPhone would never ring. Don't use it for your receptionist. Instead, open the Phone app's keypad and dial your carrier's codes from its guide. They work on any iPhone.
On Android
The codes above work on any Android phone. Google Pixel and most others: Phone app, three-dot menu, Settings, Calls (or Calling accounts, then your carrier), Call forwarding. Turn on When busy, When unanswered and When unreachable, each with your receptionist number. Samsung Galaxy: Phone app, three-dot menu, Settings, Supplementary services, Call forwarding, Voice call.
Test it
From a different phone, call your business number and don't answer. After a few rings your receptionist picks up, and the call shows in your account within a minute.
Turn it off
Turn off no-answer forwarding:
##61#Turn off phone-off forwarding:
##62#Turn off busy forwarding:
##67#
Good to know
- Enter each code on its own and wait for the confirmation message before the next one.
- These replace AT&T voicemail for those calls; your receptionist takes the message instead.
- If voicemail doesn't come back after you turn forwarding off, call AT&T on 611.
